Laval's smart street lighting and dynamic signage projects, powered by Dimonoff, have earned a finalist spot in Écotech Québec's Eureka! 2024 Awards
Sports: Source of Inspiration for Technological Innovation
On February 29th, 2020, Québec City had the opportunity, once again, to host the “Pentathlon des neiges”, a multi-event snow marathon held on the Plains of Abraham. For this occasion, a team made up of 8 colleagues, developers, engineers and administrators from Dimonoff, gave their maximum in order to spend a moment of incomparable collegiality.
A pioneer stands out, right here in Québec
A pioneer in innovation for commercial projects and smart city solutions, Dimonoff has been developing its lighting control products from the Québec City office since 2006.
The company now specializes in the development of interconnected solutions to meet the major challenges of our modern society, specifically simplifying lighting management through remote wireless control . One of its greatest accomplishments is undoubtedly Dimonoff | SCMS, the IoT management platform that makes it all possible.
In 2018, Dimonoff merged his team with Amotus Solutions, a design house specialized in electronics, software and cloud applications, that delivers on demand projects. Amotus Solutions had built a solid reputation in different sectors such as medical, pharmaceutical, entertainment, mining, aeronautics, etc. Joining forces allowed multiplying overall performance capacities and deepening a combined pool of technological expertise.
Bridging cultures through sports
Driven by the joy of innovation, the combined teams quickly found that integrating sports at work helped to create the right environment to share ideas and keep a sharp mindset. Running and training together has since become an integral part of the daily routine.
The event held on February 29th, 2020 is a symbol of this synergy existing within the company.
What do participants have to say?
For Alexandra-Maude, engineer-developer and leader of the in-house sports movement: “The “Pentathlon des neiges” is a friendly event where we can give the best of ourselves! We often train with colleagues and therefore we encourage each other to push our limits, to be constant and to progress. It strengthens our team spirit and it increases our level of pleasure at work! “
For Éric, one of the partners: “It’s the kind of events that allow us to set goals, to motivate ourselves as a group! Pentathlon day is a “happening” with an event, an adrenaline rush, mixed with a feeling of accomplishment. In today’s sedentary life, there are few opportunities to feel so alive! ”.
Jérome, software engineer, says: “Integrating sport into my lifestyle leads me to have more energy in my daily activities. Staying fit and healthy, to watch my daughter grow up and play with her, is essential. The “Pentathlon des neiges” is a fun event that allows me to set a goal while having fun with my happy office colleagues. “
Sport as a vehicle for cohesion
For Bernard Têtu, CEO, who was taking photos of the event: “Since the implementation of training sessions with our coach Natacha Gagné, we have noticed an increased dynamism in our R&D projects. It’s nice to see our team’s cohesion; and it reflects in the way that they work to meet the changing needs of society.”
Sports is a true value-added activity within the company as it creates solid bonds and it nourishes everyone’s spirit for more productivity and creativity.
In areas such as technological innovation, sport can also reduce stress, maintain motivation and develop performance.
Teams federated around a common goal, such as a sport event, can better approach the management of their professional projects and achieve exceptional results, together.
