Dimonoff Wins LSNetwork Award
Dimonoff CEO Bernard Têtu and the City of Shawinigan were proud to be honoured with the prestigious LSNetwork Award for the CANADIAN LIGHTING TECHNOLOGY OF THE YEAR category.
The award was given during the 2018 LSNetwork Morning Seminar in Toronto, Canada, on March 5th.
LSNetwork awards showcase and celebrate each year individuals, projects and organizations making a profound impact on the advancements of energy efficient exterior lighting systems across Canada. There are three categories to be awarded:
- Canadian Outdoor Lighting Project of the Year
- Canadian Lighting Technology of the Year
- Canadian LightSaver of the Year
The Canadian Lightsaver of the Year was awarded by Isabelle Lessard from the city of Montreal and her project of modernization of their 138 000 street lights to LED with the integration of a SCMS that support multi-vendor hardware. Dimonoff is proud to be the underlying technology platform behind this major smart city project.
The description of the CANADIAN LIGHTING TECHNOLOGY OF THE YEAR criteria read as follows:
A technology that has advanced the opportunities for lighting to contribute to safer, more sustainable and more intelligent communities.
“This year’s LSNetwork Awards entrants proved to be innovative in all sorts of ways,” said Geneva Starr, project coordinator at Canadian Urban Institute. “The street lighting management and control project of the city of Shawinigan has attracted our attention as they have included the control of sewer-level sensors within the same system. This is one of the first citywide, streetlight-integrated smart city applications we’ve seen in Canada.”
“Winning the LSNetwork’s Technology of the Year award with the city of Shawinigan is very significant for us as it proves that the scalability and adaptability of a platform has become essential in the smart cities industry. The Dimonoff team is very proud of all the work they have done to offer a future-proof system able to adapt to the different IoT city assets”, says Bernard Têtu, Dimonoff CEO.
“The city of Shawinigan is honoured to be recognized as a leading-edge city with this award (…) Our city has a long-standing commitment to energy efficiency and we are proud of what we have achieved”, says Michel Angers, Mayor of Shawinigan.

About LSNetwork
LSNetwork (formerly LightSavers Canada) is a market transformation initiative of the Canadian Urban Institute (CUI), started by the Toronto Atmospheric Fund in 2008 and led by the CUI since 2012. LSNetwork’s purpose is to accelerate the adoption and deployment of smart and connected LED lighting systems in streets and parking areas for intelligent communities across Canada. Switching to LEDs saves energy, reduces GHGs and provides a platform for more connected cities.
As a non-profit, non-partisan organization, we work to support this technology transformation by creating and sharing resources and convening conversations between key stakeholders.
