The City of Columbus, Ohio to Start New Lighting Project Powered by Dimonoff
The Columbus City Council has officially approved a construction contract with Complete General Construction Company and Dimonoff for the implementation of a smart lighting project in the Linden neighbourhood, Ohio.
The pilot phase of this project will replace a first batch of approximately 2,500 high-pressure sodium lights with energy-saving LED streetlights. In addition, Dimonoff have been mandated to install smart lighting nodes on top of each luminary which allows the city to remotely access, monitor and control their entire lighting system, and in real time.
“They will have a photocell that will operate the light, but with the communication network they will also work to notify the Division of an outage,” said George Zonders, spokesman for the city Department of Public Utilities. “Additionally, we will be able to control individual lights with the central control system, meaning we could turn lights on or off from the office.”

In addition to their lighting purpose, these nodes could also provide the city with future smart infrastructure capabilities including sound recognition, gas detection, air quality control and connection of cameras that could monitor streets and sidewalks.
“Our Dimonoff | SCMS Urban Asset Management Platform is highly versatile and would allow the City of Columbus to integrate several mobility and security systems into a single state-of-the-art and highly scalable data management system, thus expanding the city’s technological development” said Bernard Têtu, president of Dimonoff.
