Smart Lighting Control
November 2018
Context
The Galeries de la Capitale is the largest mall in Québec City, QC, Canada with 1,500,000 square feet.
Needs
For security reasons, ageing fixtures and energy consumptions savings, the mall decided to change its 30 year old HPS lights to LED fixtures. A lighting control & monitoring system was also installed with Dimonoff’s RME wireless smart nodes on each fixture to enable remote lighting management.
Increasing customer's Safety
The Galeries de la Capitale in Québec City has converted nearly 200 fixtures from HPS to high performance LEDs mainly for important safety issues, in addition to save on energy and maintenance costs. Having the ability to remotely control their lights using DOO Express, Dimonoff’s on-premise lighting control software for small-scale projects, allows their lighting management team to control and monitor the outdoor lighting infrastructure in real-time.
This allows them not only to monitor the performances of the luminaires, but also to program specific scenarios and save large amounts of energy by, for instance, dimming them to 15% of their capacity after midnight.
The Main Benefits of the Project
- Greatly improves customer safety
- Management of specific scenarios (e.g. special events, works schedules, etc.)
- Dimonoff BACnet gateway linked to the Reliable Controls’ building management system
- Capacity to dim lights according to specific scenarios
